The Thirteenth "A Coventry Way Challenge"

Sunday 18th April 2010  

 

 

Walk or run, either solo or in a relay around the 40 mile countryside route on Sunday 18th April 2010

Starting & Finishing at Meriden Village Hall
(GR: SP248 819 : postcode & link to
Google map: CV7 7NG ).

Food and drinks at 7 checkpoints. 
Meal at Finish for full 40 miles participants.

Walk for fun or charity and enjoy the atmosphere of "A Coventry Way Challenge".

Entry on the day only.  Shorter walks, all starting and finishing at Meriden Village Hall / The Queen's Head, Meriden.

NOTES:
  • It is recommended that all participants carry OS map 140 (1:50,000 Landranger) or OS maps 221 and 222 (1:25,000 Explorer), compass, food/drink, simple first aid, mug and some money.  NB - The booklet provided will probably be adequate to find the route, but OS Maps could be vital if you take a wrong turn and stray from the booklet maps.
  • Entrants are advised to listen to the weather forecast, wear sensible footwear and carry waterproof/windproof clothing.
  • There will be several checkpoints on the route; most will supply cold drinks and simple food, some may also supply hot drinks.  All entrants should supply and carry a plastic cup for drinks.
  • All entrants should carry food/drink of their own to supplement these provisions.
  • Baggage may be left, at the owner's risk, with the organisers at the Village Hall in Meriden.
  • Facilities available at the Village Hall also include Changing, Toilets, Onsite parking, Refreshments.
  • Toilets will be open at the Village Hall and the Queen's Head for 06.00 start.
  • "A Coventry Way" is designated on the latest OS Explorer series (1:25000) Maps 221 & 222.
  • Accommodation overnight is the responsibility of the entrant - see Accommodation page for some options.
  • Public Transport.  At the time of publication the bus service from Coventry, Birmingham and Birmingham International (Rail/Air) to Meriden (200m from Queen's Head) is every 30 mins from about 6:30am on a Sunday - Route 900.  Please check with Centro Hotline 0121 200 2700 or 024 7655 9559 or visit Travel West Midlands website.

Enjoy the countryside and respect its life and work, guard against all risks of fire, fasten gates, keep dogs on a leash and under close control, keep to public paths across farmland, use gates & stiles to cross fences, hedges and walls: leave livestock, crops & machinery alone, take your litter home, help keep all water clean, protect wild life, plants & trees, take care on roads, make no unnecessary noise.
