ACWA Working Party
On 16-May-2007 a Working Party installed two more new kissing gates on walk 17A.
The Two Kissing Gates as seen from the previous
k/g. The k/g on the right is this side of Wood Lane, and the
k/g on the Left is on the far side : Wednesday 16th May 2007
May Achievements
On 16-May-2007 a Working Party installed two new
kissing gates, at
the point the path crosses Wood End Lane on walk 17A.
Each k/g includes a yellow topped WMP, which should help locate
them easier when approaching from the previous boundary crossing in
either direction - the stiles were often hidden in the hedge, and
with no trodden path visible on the ground location (especially from
the north) was not easy. Unfurtunately from the north, it is
possible to see both k/g and both WMP, though careful observation
&/or reading of the map should identify the one on the right as
the direction to head first, which in turn will lead to a better
trodden path! [Note to Overseers and users - check visibility
often, and if needed use your securteurs].
The Kissing Gate on the North side of Wood
Lane : Wednesday 16th May 2007
The Kissing Gate on the South side of Wood Lane, with the next stile to the south in view accross the field (target for being a k/g in Jun!) : Wednesday 16th May 2007
Plans
The next session will be on:
|
Wednesday 20th Jun at 9:30 am to about 1:00
pm |
| |
Location: |
One stile south of Wood End
Lane, East of Fillongley, plus two stiles in the garden
of The Laurels on approach to Coventry Road : Sites 13 (GR 293 867), 15 & 16 on map (GR 292 863)
|
| |
Meet at: |
[confirmed 6-Jun-07] : "Lay-by"
opposite The Laurels, Coventry Road, Fillongley (GR 292
863) |
| |
Task(s): |
To replace
the next three stiles on walk 17A - the next (see photo above)
with metal k/gs, and the two in the path through
the Laurels with Wooden p/g. |
Our plans for future working parties are to
continue to place some effort in improving the remaining difficulties on
the 40-mile walk and other circular walks, but to give more
priority to creating further stile-free short (3 to 5 mile) circular
walks. Work on CWCW 17A started in February, and will take most
of 2007.
Dates for rest of 2007 mostly on
the third Wednesday in each month from Jan-Nov. The expected
dates are:
- Wednesday 18 Jul
- Wednesday 15 Aug
- Wednesday 19 Sep
- Wednesday 17 Oct
- Wednesday 21 Nov
