ACWA Working Party

On 15-Jul-2009 a Working Party installed a new kissing gate just north of ACW route, and a second new k/g on the ACW, both just East of Tantara Lodge.

July Achievements 2 (cont. from WP News 40)

The first new is k/g is located at GR 346 722.  This replaces a little used stile in poor condition amid lots of vegetation and a broken fence.  A significant improvement, even if the path is not on ACW!

The second new k/g located at GR 348 720 replaced two stiles, with the WMP replacing the stile West of the Sleeper Bridge, and the k/g replacing the stile to the East.  The step from one of the stiles was reinstalled as a seat.

We also strimmed most of one side of the path between the two k/g sites.  The rest will be completed on our next visit

In summary another satisfying day, with priority tasks completed, warm and sunny weather (in spite of forecast of rain).

The next sessions planned are:

1st  Wednesday 5th August 2009 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location: Carol Green
Park at: Park on the NW side of the straight section of Spencers Lane about 100 yds from junction with ACW towards Berkeswell (GR 256 778)
Meet at: At point where ACW meets Spencers Lane (Marker 12 - GR 257 777)
Task(s): Install two k/g at site 10 and Site 11, just before ACW reaches Spencers Lane

2nd Wednesday 19th August 2009 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location: On or near to Tantara Lodge to Bubbenhall paths
Park at: TBA.
Meet at: Probably near site 1 or 2
Task(s): Exact tasks TBA, but Probably those at 1 &/or 5 marked on the map (To be confirmed later)

The extra WP day - Wednesday 2 Sep is now confirmed.  The task will almost certainly be to build the Boardwalk to hopefully complete our tasks on the Benton Green to Carol Green project.

The expected dates are therefore:

  • Wednesday 16 Sep
  • Wednesday 21 Oct
  • Wednesday 18 Nov
