ACWA Working Party

On 19-Aug-2009 a Working Party installed two new kissing gates on or near to Tantara Lodge to Bubbenhall paths.

August Achievements 2 (cont. from WP News 42)

The first new is k/g is located at GR 345 723 near Cloud Bridge (GR 344 724).  This replaces another little used stile, again in poor condition and with a broken fence.

The second k/g is on ACW at GR 350 718, replacing the next stile after the stile replaced on 15-Jul-2009 on the route towards Bubbenhall.

We also replaced the WMP where ACW turns left and is joined by Circular Walk 7 Route A, and is in the field beyond this second k/g.

A hard days work, not finished in time to get to the Malt Shovel before last orders for cooked lunches (had to move on to Baginton Oak).  By then the sun was fully out temperature about 24 degC.  The good feature was that both k/g were well shaded by overhanging trees keeping the workers reasonably cool.

Plans

The next sessions planned are:

1st Wednesday 2nd September 2009 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location: Carol Green
Park at: Park in the car park of The Bear at Berkeswell (GR 246 791)
Meet at: Meet in the car park, and we will then arrange a shuttle service to get everyone to the junction of Spencers Lane with path M206 about 350 yds from junction with ACW towards Berkeswell (GR 256 780)
Task(s): Install a new boardwalk at site 1 (GR 256 784), and a new k/g at site 13, three fields before ACW reaches Spencers Lane

The extra WP day - Wednesday 2 Sep is now confirmed.  The task will almost certainly be to build the Boardwalk to hopefully complete our tasks on the Benton Green to Carol Green project.

The expected dates are therefore:

  • Wednesday 16 Sep
  • Wednesday 21 Oct
  • Wednesday 18 Nov
